Temple Square Visitors’ Center, Salt Lake City

Temple Square Visitors’ Center, Salt Lake City

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints partnered with Midwest Studios to share the detailed beauty of the Salt Lake temple during its historic renovation. The result is a massive scale model featured in the Temple Square Visitors’ Center.

By using the church’s building information modeling data, the Midwest team reengineered every structural element. We combined high-grade polymer resin with hand-applied, old-world craft to create a precise technical twin.

The Salt Lake temple model is a centerpiece that connects a global community with the iconic landmark. Guests look through the windows and experience every meticulously replicated light, fabric pattern, and architectural line up close.

Project Scope: 1 Salt Lake Temple centerpiece scale replica + 12 international temple models
Salt Lake Temple Scale: 3/8” = 1’
Data Integration: Built directly from complex Building Information Modeling (BIM) data
Materials: Liquid polymer resin, wood, glass, paint, lighting, electronics, landscaping, hand-applied finishes

“We always have high expectations for our partners in these projects,” said Phil Hettema, Founder of THG Creative. “These wizards from Indianapolis created not only the model that you see behind me, but a dozen other models that represent temples all over the world. The herculean effort that went into this model and the detail behind it is really stunning… I think it’s the most spectacular model I’ve ever seen.”

Collaboration is at the heart of how we work, building creative, innovative solutions for our clients. Inspired by the Midwest approach? Contact us to see how we can bring your next landmark experience to life.
